Summerfield House, Elstree
This listed house had a very unbalanced front elevation. We added curved side wings to improve the proportions much to the enthusiasm of the client and listed building dept. The remaining house was extended to include garaging and staff accomodation and re-designed both internally and externally. The original dome was used as a spotter position by the RAF for Elstree aerodrome during WW2. Removing wallpaper during renovations revealed a poignant reminder as large numbers of signatures from RAF pilots were revealed.
